Labour Can't Win Here!

People across the new Hinckley and Bosworth constituency have a clear choice on July 4th. Either popular Liberal Democrat councillor Michael Mullaney will be our new MP or we will have more of the same with the Conservatives.

No other result is possible here. Boundary changes mean that traditional Labour voting areas move into the new Mid-Leicestershire constituency. All the leading election experts agree that the Lib Dems are the main challengers to the Conservatives in the new Hinckley and Bosworth.

At last May’s local elections and in the recent Polce and Crime Commisonor elections, the Lib Dems proved they can beat the Conservatives here. Labour were a poor third. Labour bosses know they cannot win. They have declared Hinckley and Bosworth a 'non-battleground' seat.

Voting for either Labour, Green or Reform risks letting the Conservatives back in and continue to take our area for granted. That's why more and more people in communities right across our area are backing Lib Dem Michael Mullaney at the upcoming general election.

Irresponsible driving on Coventry Road

We continue to urge a reduction of the 40mph limit and for more enforcement of the existing limits. We have to stop those who have no regard for the safety of themselves or others. Please let us know if you are interested in taking part in campaigning on this problem.

Hands off our open spaces

Over the years we have fought many battles to try to save our open spaces from development. The Coventry Road College playing fields, the Paddock, the Big Pit have all been saved but what is the long term future for the Wharf Pit ? The Conservative Council is determined to sell off the Brodick Road play area. We are equally determined to find every alternative means to stop this happening. The Langdale Road playing field improvements are obviously to be welcomed in principle but Brodick Road should not be sold to pay for it.

Earl Shilton Parish Building

It has recently been revealed that Earl Shilton Parish Council is saving for a new parish building, estimated at £2.5million. Gary Francks and Earl Shilton Liberal Democrats want to ensure that local residents are properly consulted about these plans. What do you think - is this a priority for the area and what should any new building contain?

Fighting to Save Cottons' Gardens

Liberal Democrats are still fighting to save Cottons' gardens in Earl Shilton. The Cottons' water gardens off Candle Lane are under immediate threat. Cllr David Bill has raised the issue in the local press and is working with local residents to try to find a solution. In any other town in any other part of the country this environmental gem would have received recognition but it will be lost if it is left to our Labour Councillors. We still hope that something can be done but time is running out.
