Lib Dems sweep to victory in four by-elections

Last Thursday in Burbage Tilton ward popular Lib Dem campaigner Michael Mullaney stormed to victory polling nearly 60% of the vote. Reform UK were second and the Conservatives fell to a poor third.
In Barwell’s Red Hall Ward Lib Dem Andrew March beat Reform to win a seat on the Parish Council.
On Friday nominations also closed for vacancies on Barwell parish Council (St Mary’s Ward) and Earl Shilton Town Council (Townlands Ward) where Lib Dem candidates Tina Hurst and Rushikumar Gosalia were elected unopposed.
Michael Mullaney said “Thank you to everyone who supported myself and the other Lib Dem candidates. On top of our best ever County Council election results in May this is yet another vote of confidence in the Lib Dem team and shows we are the main challenger to the Conservatives”.
Lib Dem leader of Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council Stuart Bray said “A few weeks ago a major YouGov opinion poll projected Michael Mullaney beating both Reform and the Conservatives to win Hinckley and Bosworth constituency. Now in real votes in real elections in the constituency Michael Mullaney beat both Reform and the Conservatives. In other elections the other parties couldn’t even field candidates.”
